Michael Bauer: Between Meals : Could it be that restaurants are getting quieter?
Posted by ai at 9:56 AMMore at SFGate: “It seems in recent years, diners' pleas for quieter restaurants have largely fallen on deaf ears. In the past few years, if you wanted a place to hold a normal conversation you'd have to forgo the new places and go to more expensive restaurants such as La Folie, the Dining Room at the Ritz Carlton or Fleur de Lys.
I'm not sure I'd call it a trend yet, but recently restaurant designers have told me that acoustical treatments are coming to the forefront when planning new restaurants or remodels. Recently several restaurants have opened with more manageable noise levels, including Murray Circle in Sausalito (2 bells), the Moss Room in the California Academy of Sciences building in Golden Gate Park (2 bells) and even Nettie's Crab Shack in the Marina (3 bells).”
-- I think its the economy, Michael!
